I am a psychotherapist, who works with individuals and couples.

I have been a  therapist for over 30 years. I am a Certified Transactional Analyst  and Integrative psychotherapist, incorporating Transpersonal psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy helps you to work with deep seated issues that have their roots most often in childhood. I facilitate the process of understanding the causes of the underlying reasons for the difficulties you may be experiencing.

My role in this process is to facilitate and empower you to explore your inner world and work alongside you to change the psychological structures that you put in place as a child. You built these structures, often unconsciously, in the belief that this was the only way of getting your needs met.

Many of these structures are now outdated and make your life uncomfortable or painful. It is difficult to move out of these patterns of being, however painful, as you know that they work - they enable you to get most of your needs met.

Alongside my Psychotherapy work I utilize sex therapy, working from a multi-faceted foundation of knowledge (bio-psycho-social model) using a pluralistic approach where my work is client led. I work with people in different types of relationships (same sex, consensual non monogamy, open and polyamorous etc.).

About Me

From the age of three I lived in Hampstead in London. Hampstead in the 1950's was the heart of psychoanalysis. For several reasons I was immersed into this world and from an early age learnt to analyse my own as well as other people's emotional and mental lives. This 'gift' became a part of who I am.

I opened my psychotherapeutic practice in 1992. I run a private practice in Kentish Town, North West London and in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. I work with a wide range of issues on a short and long term basis.

Frequently asked questions

How long will the therapy take?

Counselling can be as short as 6 sessions. Psychotherapy (because you are working at a deeper level) will take longer often 1 year or more.

What will my initial session involve?

The initial session is 40 minutes long and is free of charge. This is a time for you to ask me any questions you have and to tell me what you want to work on. You have the opportunity to make an appointment or to go away and think about whether you feel I am the right therapist for you. My aim is to offer you an initial session within 10 days.

Will everything I say be kept confidential?

Confidentiality is one of the main ways in which therapy differs from many other forms of helping - for example, talking to friends or family can rarely offer the same degree of confidentiality as talking to a therapist. Because of this confidentiality, you will find that - as you get used to coming for therapy - you are freer to talk about whatever you wish to.

No therapist can offer 100% confidentiality: there are some situations where the law requires disclosure of risk. However, breaking confidentiality is rare, and only happens after talking to the person concerned.
